Kiehl's Story
Kiehl's is keeping it in the (Dillard's) family. The three-generation and family-owned, New York-based skin and hair care products seller has launched a partnership with Dillard's at Park Plaza Center. Kiehl's represents a blend of cosmetic, pharmaceutical, herbal and medicinal knowledge developed and passed on through the generations. Products that are so raved-about they literally have a cult following include Lip Balm #1, Creme de Corps and Ultra Facial Moisturizer. Just like Dillard's, Kiehl's is rooted in a legacy built on family, community and philanthropy.
To celebrate the joining of these two philanthropic companies, Dillard's and Kiehl's donated $1,000 from the Kiehl's shop to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas. Along with this donation, Dillard's and Kiehl's will donate a total of $18,000 to the organization and open 18 exclusive Kiehl's stores across the country. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas is a locally funded and operated non-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and their families by creating and supporting programs that improve the health and well-being of children. More than 19,000 families have been served since the group opened its doors.
"Kiehl's has always maintained a long-standing commitment to the communities in which they do business, and they are honored to join Little Rock in this way," says Chris Salagardo, president of Kiehl's. According to Chris, Mr. Aaron Morse (one of the founding Kiehl's family members) believed "a worthwhile firm must have a purpose for its existence ... to improve in some way the quality of the community to which it is committed." Aaron's statement has since become the foundation for the Mission of Kiehl's. "It's a set of values that embodies our brand, our products, our people and our way of life in the communities in which we do business," Chris notes. "From that premise, we strive to play a responsible role alongside our customers through regular and frequent civic, environmental, and philanthropic projects and initiatives."
"Since Kiehl's inception it has been their mission to give back to the communities in which they do business by being socially responsible citizens. Uniquely, the mission of Kiehl's is not a business or marketing strategy. Rather, it's an integral part of who and what they are by initiating philanthropic projects we initiate on both national and local levels. Current philanthropic projects include their Limited Edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection to benefit the children's organization RxArt, Limited Edition Hand Care for a Cure, which benefits amfAR, and the support of Dillard's to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas.
"Whether we're supporting our global or local communities, or organizations that advocate for children, HIV/AIDS awareness and education, or the environment, giving back to our communities in some way is integral to our heritage and legacy, and we will continue to honor the legacy of our founding family and support our mission to give back," Chris concludes.
Kiehl's "try before you buy" policy is part of their obvious commitment to customer satisfaction. They allow you to sample generously, and are dedicated to finding products that work with your skin type and needs. Their presence at Park Plaza will enhance the already altruistic corporate Dillard's environment, and offer a great line of products, too!
