This year, Dr. Michael Calhoun and his wife Terri made the perfect team when they joined Women’s Own Worth’s WOW Woman of the Year Stephanie Lamberth as 2024 WOWapalooza Chairs. These awesome Arkansans are leading the effort to build additional Villas which will be constructed by spring of 2025. The couple’s continued support takes the organization’s fundraising to the next level. They have been supporters and becoming this year’s chairs, they increased their commitment tremendously. “After praying on the idea and talking it over with Michael,” Terri shares. “We decided we needed to do everything we could for domestic violence survivors in our state.” Michael notes, “We are deeply honored to chair this event and support the incredible work that Women’s Own Worth is doing. Together, we can make a significant impact in the lives of survivors and help create a safer, more supportive community.”
As 2024 WOW Woman of the Year, Stephanie first got involved as a sponsor many years ago. Just a few years later, the family experienced a tragedy when her sister’s best friend was killed by her boyfriend. The mission of Women’s Own Worth became very personal to her. “It made me want to get even more involved,” Stephanie notes. She recognized this need to act and has hosted many fundraisers at her business, The Skin Fix Med Spa. Her philanthropy and work in the community has improved the lives of many individuals. Women’s Own Worth Founder Jajuan Archer believes there is no one more deserving of this recognition “Stephanie is a true WOW Woman.”
For more than a decade, Women’s Own Worth has helped domestic violence survivors connect with a statewide network of providers. “We try to bridge the gap between state and federally funded organizations,” Jajuan elaborates. “It’s our desire to serve those who have suffered trauma.” The results are measurable, and the advocacy initiatives are equally impressive. WOWapalooza is the primary source of funding; half of this year’s proceeds are dedicated to the construction of two new villas which will be located in the community with the organization’s current homes for families who leave local domestic violence shelters. Jajuan adds, “We will continue to provide housing, healing and hope to survivors in Central Arkansas.”
