Lumber1 & Design1

John and Pam Morton established Lumber1 Home Center in 1990. John began working in the lumber business at the age 15, and he did everything from helping customers load purchases to driving delivery trucks. With the success of the locations in Stuttgart and Mayflower, the company expanded further by opening a new Little Rock location in March of this year. The family tradition continues to grow at Lumber1 Home Center. John and Pam’s daughter, Nealy Wells, serves as the Chief Experience Officer at Design1, and her husband, Adam Wells, as President.

Adam elaborates, “We strive to be unique and be all things to all people. We have always had the best prices, but we are determined to also have the best service. Most businesses in our industry primarily focus on either retail or contractor business, but we pride ourselves in being the go-to place for both.” This translates into an opportunity for the DIY weekend warrior to secure the same pricing as a seasoned professional.

This kind of honesty and integrity are the building blocks for success. “We keep our reputation for having the best prices by working hard to make strategic buying decisions, then passing along those savings to the customers. In the end we know that people will take notice, and it has resulted in us being able to continue to grow beyond our wildest dreams.”

After years of meticulous planning, the family welcomed customers to the new Little Rock location last spring. “The new store has over 100,000 square feet, putting it right on par with the big box stores.” This also includes the 34,000 square foot Design1. “We offer flooring, lighting, windows, doors, cabinets, countertops and appliances to update existing home or build your dream home.”
