ORIGAMI SAKE
Sake is a beverage originally developed over 1,500 years ago in Japan. Japan has developed techniques and processes over many centuries and the learning curve for the craft of making world-class sake in America is a steep one. Enter Matt Bell. Matt is an Arkansas native and successful business entrepreneur. Prior to launching Origami Sake in August of 2023, Matt was a founding partner of Bell-Corley Construction, Viridian, and Entegrity Energy Partners.
Located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Origami Sake is nestled amidst the Ouachita Mountains, sourcing its famous mineral water. Origami Sake is the first and only sake brewery in Arkansas and is the largest domestically owned sake brewery in the United States utilizing 100% Arkansas sourced products. “We’re proud to be brewing a 100% Arkansas-made product and we are determined to lead the rediscovery of sake in America,” says Matt. The brewery resides in the heart of U.S. rice country – with its home accounting for nearly 50% of the nation’s total rice production. Origami Sake sources its water exclusively from the Ouachita Mountains aquifer in famous Hot Springs, Arkansas. Not only are they sourcing 100% of their ingredients from Arkansas, 100% of the brewery electricity is provided by an on-site ground mounted solar array.
In July of 2023, Origami Sake was honored to receive the Sake Brewers Association of North America’s highest recognition for domestically crafted sake in North America with the Platinum People’s Choice Award. In October of 2023, Ben Bell, Vice President and co-founder of Origami was recognized by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as one of the top 40 tastemakers in America. Origami has received an incredible amount of press attention having been published in the New York Times, Garden & Gun, Punch, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, NHK Japan, Japan News, and many others.
