Donavon Colclough
Manager of Incident Response, Entergy
BS, Applied Science
I chose the University of Arkansas at Little Rock because I felt it was representative of who I was – humble, yet full of greatness; never settling and always expecting more. I began in 2001 initially focused on the college experience, but life took an unexpected turn after 9/11. Driven by a belief that doing nothing is unacceptable, I enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Iraq. Returning home, I married my college sweetheart and started a family. Later, I returned to UA Little Rock as a nontraditional student determined to finish what I had started and provide for my family.
UA Little Rock met me where I was – twice. First, as a young student still finding his way, and later as a working professional, husband and father. The university’s flexibility and support for nontraditional students played a crucial role in helping me finish my degree with excellence. I hope my journey shows others that with consistency, intention, and faith, anything is possible.
UA Little Rock provided me with the academic foundation and confidence to advance in my career. It helped me secure promotions such as Power Delivery Safety Supervisor and my current role as Manager of Incident Response at Entergy. Beyond the degree itself, UA Little Rock gave me the tools and academic credibility to lead with intention and integrity. I was honored to be inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Lambda Pi Eta National Communications Honor Society – recognitions that reinforce that hard work pays off. I’ve obtained my Certified Utility Safety Professional certification and my Life Insurance Producers license. While those were after my time at UA Little Rock, the university set the foundation for these professional achievements.
