Ashley Peterson
Entergy Arkansas, LLC
Regulatory Affairs Manager
DAY AT WORK
Working in regulatory affairs affords me the opportunity to participate in many different aspects of the business from resource planning to economic development, new products and services, renewable and sustainable strategies, rate design, complex customer issues, storm restoration, community outreach, and stakeholder outreach just to name a few things.
BEGINNING INTERESTS
In graduate school, I accepted a part-time job at Entergy and then discovered all the interesting opportunities and avenues that go along with working for an electric utility.
CAREER EVOLUTION
I did not set out to have a STEAM career, and my first full-time position was serving as the community resource center manager with Entergy’s Economic Development Department. In this role, I was challenged to learn how to use GIS mapping software to display and analyze data. I moved onto coding in my next role to process data. I’ve also had roles in operations and customer service, which came with a different set of needs and experiences. I just kept adding more tools to the toolbox with each new job.
LOVE THE WORK
While every industry experience change, technology and policy changes in the utility world abound. Those challenges coupled with increased electrification and evolving customer expectations have expanded exponentially since I started in 2004. Learn, learn, repeat!
ADVICE
Apply for the job. If you are interested in a position but are concerned you may not meet 100% of the criteria, face that concern head-on and apply anyway!
