Baptist Health Comprehensive Women’s Clinic North Little Rock
Family Medicine M.D. (full spectrum including OB)
DAY AT WORK
I write notes to each patient and determine their plan of care, which might include follow-ups, medication, or lifestyle changes. I then answer patient portal questions and pre-plan upcoming visits. The rest of my day is spent seeing patients – which is the fun part!
CAREER EVOLUTION
My STEAM-related career began with my passion for science, which led me to medical school. After residency, I started teaching at UAMS in a rural program, where I worked in various settings including clinics, hospitals, and both inpatient and outpatient OB and pediatrics. I found great joy in teaching and mentoring young physicians, recognizing the immense responsibility of shaping future doctors.
LOVE THE WORK
I am blessed to have this opportunity to serve, to do good, and develop relationships with individuals when oftentimes they are in their greatest time of need. We are not only making a small ripple of change but instead making huge waves with the education we provide and the interventions we apply. This affects not only the lives of our patients but of their loved ones, and our entire communities.
ADVICE
The network of women across the health professions has grown, and the gender gap is closing, even though females made up only 35-37% of STEAM workers and students in 2024. This network, which includes leaders and innovators like Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first female U.S. physician graduate, inspires me every single day. I encourage all girls to consider STEAM, as it is fun and rewarding and we can accomplish great things together.
