UA Little Rock School of Nursing

Director of Simulation and Assistant Professor

BEGINNING INTERESTS

I’ve always been drawn to nursing because it makes a real impact. As a student and dual Walker Scholar (associate degree and bachelor’s degree) at UA Little Rock, I had incredible faculty who supported and challenged me. Their mentorship shaped my path, and when I transitioned into nursing education, I wanted to do the same.

CAREER EVOLUTION

I came to college knowing I wanted to be in healthcare. Nursing stood out because it’s a constantly evolving profession. UA Little Rock has been at the forefront of embracing the integration of clinical simulation and technology in nursing education, recognizing that these provide an environment for high impact learning for our students. To prepare students for the future, we must ensure that they have experience with complex health care scenarios in an environment that fosters critical thinking and analysis.

LOVE the Work

I love watching students grow. Many come in nervous about making mistakes, but through practice, they develop confidence and clinical judgment. UA Little Rock’s faculty deeply care about student success, just as they did when I was a student. Now, I get to be part of that same legacy.

SURPRISING BUT TRUE

Many don’t realize how much technology is shaping nursing education. Our simulation center is the only one in Arkansas that is internationally accredited. The availability of structured clinical scenarios enables our students to enter their career well prepared to address the needs of a complete healthcare system. Nursing is a dynamic, fast-paced field, and there’s a huge space for women in STEAM – especially in healthcare.
