Emily Piechocki – National Philanthropy Day Nominations Chair

|

“I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible volunteers and donors; their generosity reminds me of the power of human kindness. Witnessing how people come together to help families in crisis, who are staying at Ronald McDonald House, inspires me.”

Like a crystal anniversary, her 15 years at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas & North Louisiana reflect clarity of purpose, brightness for the future and the fragility of life. In tandem with this work, Emily Piechocki relies on the resources of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. With more than 230 chapters, the organization creates an invaluable global network for its members – all with a finite focus of building better communities. The AFP Arkansas Chapter will welcome business and civic leaders to the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon later this month.

During Emily’s tenure at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas & North Louisiana, she has helped complete the capital campaign to build the current house as well as the campaign to construct the Ronald McDonald Family Room at UAMS. As a parent and a professional, her commitment to the organization is unwavering. “We witness families who are enduring the most heartbreaking challenges imaginable.” She remains passionate and insists that introducing perspective patrons to the mission fulfillment work is critical. “Providing a free place to call home allows these families to focus on their child. Gifts of all sizes make a real and instant impact.”

Emily cultivated a heart for service early and earnestly. “My parents are truly inspiring and set an unforgettable example.” She is the daughter of a preacher who also served as a hospital chaplain. “My dad prayed and comforted thousands of families.” And her mother was a nurse. “Their dedication to service in the healthcare sector throughout my childhood is part of why I am so passionate about the mission of Ronald McDonald House today.” As a student at Mount Saint Mary Academy, Emily participated in the service-learning program. “Service and philanthropy have always been a core part of my life. I believe everyone has the ability to give back, and it’s essential to do so.”

For more than a decade, Emily has been involved with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Arkansas Chapter. She realizes it has been instrumental in her career and connecting her with like-minded individuals. ‘Over the years, I have forged friendships with incredible professionals who have shared advice, ideas, encouragement, and expertise. The best part is the networking and relationships among peers.” She notes that Central Arkansas is more vibrant as a result of countless nonprofit organizations that are committed to improving the lives of fellow Arkansans. Despite the answer “no” from time to time, Emily remains optimistic. “I believe most people want to give back but struggle to find the time and opportunities to make a difference. By inviting people to donate, I’m creating potential and connections.”
