For more than three decades, Darrow Jones has been a visionary in Central Arkansas – providing unprecedented value to his Jones & Son Diamond & Bridal Fine Jewelry clientele and unwavering support to a variety of nonprofit organizations. Darrow and his son Jacob reflect on this legacy and what philanthropy means in their family business.
“We strongly believe in giving back to the community and are proud to share a large part of our profits with local nonprofit organizations that help the community,” Darrow explains. Through its support of the 20th Century Club Hope Ball, Jones & Son Diamond & Bridal Fine Jewelry has helped ease the cancer journey of patients and their families at the club’s lodge that offers accommodations for patients receiving treatment at area medical centers. 20th Century Club Executive Director Elizabeth Clogston recognizes this commitment, “Darrow and Jacob consistently look for new ways to support our mission and our patients. The retail value of their 15 years of donations exceeds $225,000; with the proceeds raised from these donations covering the cost of providing one patient room for over seven years.”
And as presenting sponsor of Arkansas Children’s Miracle Ball, the Jones family has also improved the health of children throughout Arkansas. With contributions of more than $1 million, the continued mission fulfillment work of Arkansas Children’s is made possible by Jones & Son Diamond & Bridal Fine Jewelry. Arkansas Children’s Executive Vice President/Chief Communications & Development Officer Fred Scarborough adds, “Darrow remains one of our most ardent supporters at Arkansas Children’s. From our first meeting over 10 years ago to this very day, Darrow, Jacob and the entire team are fully engaged in building a community of supporters for Arkansas Children’s. Darrow has, through the years, hosted events, provided auction items and made gifts that have made Miracle Ball one of the premier events in the state. When I think of the impact of individual and corporate generosity, Darrow and his team are at the top of my list.”
The family is also invested in Wolfe Street Foundation and its dedication to recovery of alcoholism and addiction. Jacob explains the correlation between the organizations is simple, “All three are major difference makers in the lives of many Arkansans every day.” And much like the family’s business philosophy, Darrow and Jacob are finitely focused on philanthropy and how their business can make life more beautiful and prosperous. “We are personally involved in the day-to-day operation of our business and the organizations we support. We have increased our giving over time as we’ve been successful and growing as a company.”
