A Southern Summer Celebration in Argenta
When Lauren (McLemore) and Grant Posey were married on May 17, 2025, their wedding reflected a thoughtful blend of Southern charm and the color and spirit of a European summer, rooted firmly in the community they love. Held in Argenta, the celebration unfolded across two closely connected venues, with an intimate ceremony at The Sanctuary at Argenta followed by a reception at the historic E O Manees House. Designed to feel like a relaxed yet refined family backyard dinner party, the evening embraced the ease of summer beneath magnolia trees. The couple’s story began in March 2020 on Bumble during the height of the pandemic, built through daily FaceTimes before finally meeting in person. Grant proposed a few years later, the day after Christmas, surprising everyone when he dropped to one knee in front of the big Christmas tree in the Argenta Plaza.
Inspired by their Arkansas roots and a shared love of Mediterranean flavors, Lauren and Grant envisioned a celebration that felt warm, welcoming, and intentional. After the ceremony, guests gathered for a reception framed by a romantic summer palette of white, pink, and peach roses accented with blue delphinium, while a jazz trio played on the porch throughout dinner. Midway through the evening, an ice cream truck arrived just as the sun was setting, adding a playful nod to summer. The couple carried that same sense of simplicity and connection into their honeymoon, traveling just three hours north to Eureka Springs for a quiet stay at a Beaver Lake Cottages cabin, where days were spent on the lake and evenings included a special dinner at Grant’s childhood favorite, Ermilio’s.
Lauren tells us more about their story:
THE DETAILS
How did you meet?
Grant and I connected on Bumble, but we had quite a few mutual friends from high school. We grew up about 40 minutes from each other. I remember his bio included a quote from “Miss Congeniality,” so I reached out and we connected almost instantly. It was March of 2020, so right around the peak of the pandemic. We quickly moved off the app to texting and phone calls, and Facetimed on a daily basis. He’d been asking me to hang out, but I was so nervous about being around a big crowd. Eventually, a few weeks after we matched, I agreed to come to his neighborhood for what he promised would be a small gathering to meet him in person for the first time. He ran out to the car to greet me when I got there, and I’m pretty sure he kissed me before he said any actual words to me, ha!
What is your proposal story?
Grant enlisted in the Army shortly after we started dating. He left for basic training, and I moved into an apartment in Argenta. Unfortunately, he got injured and was put on leave for the summer. That summer we spent together in Argenta, we got so close, and I knew it would always be special to us. A few years later, once I had moved out-of-state, his parents had moved to Argenta. When we were both home visiting for Christmas, we were so excited to be back in the community that meant so much to us. The day after Christmas, we went to brunch with his parents and afterwards, Grant asked if we could take a family photo in front of the big Christmas tree in the plaza. He’s never one to suggest a photo, so I knew something was up. He asked his parents to take one of us, and asked his mom to video, and then he dropped to one knee. To this day, we laugh so hard at that video and their reactions, because he shocked absolutely all of us. His parents had no idea he was planning a proposal. It turns out, there was no plan. He’d just been holding the ring in his pocket waiting for what felt like the right moment.
Can you describe your wedding day?
Our wedding day was nothing short of perfect! We knew we wanted to be in Argenta, so we’d originally just planned to have our whole wedding at the E O Manees House, but then finding out they’d purchased the church across the street was the best news ever! I’d been wanting a traditional church ceremony, but didn’t want people to have to travel too far between venues.
The inspiration for the design and vibe was a mix of Southern charm (really honing in on our Arkansas roots) and the food and color palette of a European summer. My childhood home had a big magnolia tree in the front yard, so I knew I wanted to be outside under the magnolia trees during the reception. It was meant to feel like a big family backyard dinner party, comfortable and relaxed while still being refined and elegant. One of my favorite parts was the jazz band trio we had on the porch throughout the dinner.
How did you approach the food and dining experience?
Grant and I love to cook and our favorite cuisine is Mediterranean, so we knew right away we wanted to lean into those flavors for the appetizers and meal with things like feta, balsamic, pita and dips, chicken skewers, potatoes and vegetables. Later, mid-way through the reception, we had an ice cream truck come by, because what says summer like an ice cream cone at sunset?
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
Neither of us are big cake people, so we opted for a simple and elegant traditional white cake, and it was so delicious that it might’ve turned us into cake people.
What was the inspiration behind the floral design?
I envisioned a romantic “summer-y” palette, so we opted for white, pink and peach roses with some other white and whimsical flowers and a touch of blue delphinium. I wanted greenery that reminded me of Europe, so we accented with Italian ruscus. I also wanted to include lilies, because those are the flowers my mom carried in her bouquet on her wedding day, and I knew I’d be honoring her with my bouquet at the reception.
Are there any funny moments you would like to share from your wedding day?
My mom’s best friend put together a beautiful breakfast spread for us while we were getting ready, but most of us were too nervous to eat and by the time we got to pre-ceremony pictures, we were starving. So Grant DoorDashed Chick Fil A, and kept chicken nuggets in his pocket all day, handing them out to the girls between photos, LOL.
Do you have any budget saving tips for other couples?
Work with a great planner and be specific/upfront about your budget from the beginning! They usually have tons of recommendations and connections, and can advocate/negotiate on your behalf. We are so thankful for the magic our planner worked for us budget-wise and feel like it was worth every penny. Also, it is costly to transform a space, so try to pick a venue that is beautiful with your style at bare bones. Any florals and rentals we chose were really only to elevate and accent a space we already loved as-is.
Tell us about the honeymoon!
While we had planned to have a fitting European summer as our honeymoon, it ended up not being feasible due to military obligations. So instead, we drove three hours north to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where Grant had rented a cabin from Beaver Lake Cottages with a breathtaking view of the lake. We had the most serene trip, having coffee on the balcony every morning and watching the birds and squirrels, and getting out on the lake for paddle boarding and kayaking. He took me into town one night for dinner at a favorite childhood restaurant of his, Ermilio’s, and it was incredible.
