Later this month, the gardens of the CARTI Cancer Center will be transformed into an oasis for food and wine enthusiasts. CARTI Salute! offers a unique blend of culinary excellence and cancer awareness that supports patients during a journey back to wellness. Medical Director of Radiation Oncology Dr. Matt Hardee and his wife Julie share insight with a deeply personal connection.
The couple has been involved with CARTI Salute! since its inception three years ago. They look forward to this progressive evening under the stars. It’s an extraordinary experience, with a curated selection of wines from Colonial Wines & Spirits and delectable small plates crafted by the most celebrated chefs in Central Arkansas. Participating restaurants include 42 Bar & Table, BCW, Cache, Cheers, Dizzy’s Gypsy Bistro, George’s Little Rock, Oyster Bar, Park Grill at AMFA, Petit & Keet, Raduno Brick Oven & Barroom, Red Oak Steakhouse at Saracen Casino Resort, Samantha’s Tap Room & Wood Grill, Scallions and The Hope Bistro. The event not only tantalizes the taste buds, guests also get a glimpse of the center’s renowned compassionate, patient-centered care.
Proceeds benefit the patient support services which provide vital resources such as emotional and nutritional counseling. “Available in-person and virtually through The Bridge, these services are the foundation of our innovative approach to patient assistance,” Dr. Hardee explains. “From financial advocacy to yoga, healing arts and counseling, each program is designed to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Often, these services make the difference between a patient completing or not completing their course of treatment. They make that much of an impact.”
Accessibility to care is paramount to the CARTI mission and resonates with the Hardees, who both grew up in rural Arkansas. CARTI is the largest private cancer clinic in Arkansas and remains steadfast in its commitment to trusted cancer care accessible to as many Arkansans as possible. With a statewide network of locations that offer a full spectrum of treatment options, CARTI serves more than 50,000 Arkansans annually. “Whether administrative team member or physician, it’s clear that we are genuinely invested in our patients and their well-being. As a nonprofit facility, we are grateful for our community’s generous support, which enables us to make this leading-edge, patient-centered care possible.”
The Hardees emphasize that every act of generosity matters; Julie encourages, “Donating to CARTI makes a direct difference in the lives of those facing cancer in our state. We’re humbled to support any CARTI Foundation event because we’ve seen its positive impact on our community.” Dr. Hardee adds, “Cancer is a daunting journey, but patients often tell me they feel an almost immediate sense of peace and calm wash over them as soon as they enter our doors.”
