After the mass destruction of the 2023 spring tornadoes, Burns Park is making a powerful comeback as a hub for outdoor activities in Central Arkansas. Next month, Home for Healing will host its 16th Annual Golf Classic at this iconic North Little Rock municipal park. Chairs Neil Day and Will Clark encourage fellow golf enthusiasts to join the friendly competition.

Presented by Simmons Bank, participants in the tournament will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes including a $5,000 award for a hole-in-one. But beyond the fun, the event supports families facing some of life’s toughest challenges. For more than two decades, Home for Healing has offered reprieve for parents of NICU infants as well as individuals undergoing cancer treatment and their caregivers. Providing convenient and affordable accommodations in a peaceful + restorative environment in the heart of the Capital City, Home for Healing is a beacon of hope during a journey back to wellness. Maintenance and operation of the facility is reliant on community support.

Neil and Will share an unwavering commitment to the organization. Neil elaborates, “Upon being approached by colleagues about Home for Healing’s mission, I realized how essential their services are.” Initially through his work at Simmons Bank, Neil realized the critical resources that Home for Healing provides. “As a father, the thought of needing a place like Home for Healing during a medical crisis resonated deeply with me. Until you put yourself in those shoes, it’s hard to appreciate the importance of having a safe, supportive place to stay. I’m proud to help keep those doors open for families in need.”

Home for Healing continues to meet families during a difficult time. Expanded services include accommodations for those with loved ones in the intensive care unit. Director of Development Nichole McGeorge explains, “Our mission is to offer a serene space where patients and their families can rest and heal, away from the stresses of medical care.” More than 5,000 patients and families from 35 states and seven countries have experienced this “home away from home” and compassionate care.

The Golf Classic offers a unique opportunity to support Home for Healing. In addition to a beautiful day at Burns Park, there is an exclusive raffle for a Red Apple Inn package and more. Will adds, “This is the 16th edition of our Golf Classic, and players are in for an afternoon of fellowship, good food, fun golf, and exciting prizes.”
