For more than a century, the American Heart Association remains a relentless force for improved heart health in every community. Each year, the Hot Springs Heart Ball brings awareness and critical support to this fight against this disease. CHI St. Vincent Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Jason Pelton and his wife Lindsey will welcome guests to a celebration of the organization’s mission fulfillment work throughout Garland County.
Presented by CHI St. Vincent, Ouachita Regional Pain Management and National Park Medical Center, the pursuit of wellness is a shared vision. The couple realize the urgency and believe that accessibility to heathcare and wellness initiatives is critical as well. Dr. Pelton conducts outpatient visits in Camden and CHI St. Vincent has clinics in Murfreesboro and DeQueen. He realizes equity and education are additional resources provided by the American Heart Association. “The American Heart Association is vital in helping keep this community healthy by not only advancing research on treating heart disease, but more importantly, preventing it.”
The evening is expected to generate funding for the programs that empower individuals with CPR and AED knowledge. American Heart Association Regional Marketing Communications Director Cyd King shares startling statistics and notes the most effective and timely response can save lives. “Each year, more than 350,000 people suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the United States. Only about 10 percent of those people survive. This year, the American Heart Association is asking the public to join Nation of Lifesavers and help increase the number of people who can respond effectively to cardiac emergencies.”
The Heart Ball will showcase community accomplishments as well as the formal presentation of the Hot Springs Sweethearts. This program provides a unique opportunity for high school sophomores to participate in a comprehensive program designed to teach heart-healthy initiatives and cultivate civic responsibility with time devoted to the local hospitals. The couple hopes the momentum continues throughout the new year. “We are excited to see how we can extend the reach of the American Heart Association’s mission beyond the event itself, driving impactful change at the individual level,” Lindsey explains. “We are also eager to share stories of hope and resilience, highlighting the real-life impact of our collective efforts.”
