Goodwill Industries of Arkansas reflects this family’s legacy. “My dad served on the board of directors here, and in Florida, and before that Nebraska,” Denise Luft explains. “When they were looking for ‘young blood’ – I got the call.” For more than two decades, Denise has continued in her father’s footsteps. “I have very vivid memories of his participation in worthwhile organizations including ALS Association and Junior Achievement as well as Goodwill Industries. I always wanted to be just like him, so caring about a special cause – or two or three – is a no brainer for me!”

Denise and Tim Luft will welcome friends and fellow Mardi Gras enthusiasts to Gala for Good for a celebration of remarkable accomplishments. It’s an evening that showcases the Goodwill Industries of Arkansas students, graduates and community partners. Denise is most impressed with the comprehensive support offered through education, training and employment preparedness. “Changing lives starts with providing opportunities. I love hearing the success stories of participants. Everyone who has ever donated to Goodwill can be proud they helped with these achievements.” Mitch Chandler will be posthumously honored with the Spirit of Goodwill Award for his steadfast dedication as a leader + ardent ambassador. The festivities continue with entertainment by the Bayou Royals. Straight from New Orleans – this blend of Motown, Second Line Brass and Rhythm & Blues is guaranteed to rival Frenchmen Street. “Mitch always enjoyed a good party that marked milestones and victories. That’s the heart of Goodwill Industries of Arkansas, our participants and graduates. So much of it is made possible by volunteers like Mitch – what could be better than a second line to celebrate?”

Proceeds support Goodwill Industries of Arkansas programs and resources: The Excel Center and The Academy as well as career services and reentry services after incarceration. President & CEO Brian Marsh notes that the gala represents a culmination of mission fulfillment work. “Gala for Good highlights the power of second chances, overcoming challenges and empowering those striving for a better life. The Lufts are a testament to what investing in people and transforming lives can do for our community.” Denise and Tim simply believe we can all encourage one another; it helps bolster a brighter future. “Goodwill’s unwavering and all-encompassing support of people who need to complete education or realign their lives after incarceration is something I want the whole world to know about.”
