ANITA CABE, CLAY CABE
Established in 1990, the Cabe Foundation continues to support educational and cultural initiatives throughout the state. Innovative grants create ample opportunity for measurable social impact and advocacy. These results improve the lives of Arkansans. Arkansas Advocates for Children & Families Development Director Fran Carter elaborates, “This foundation supports our mission to ensure every child has the resources and opportunities they need to live healthy, productive lives and realize their full potential. The same focus of working in partnership with nonprofit organizations across the state can be seen in the long list of grants the Cabe Foundation provides each and every year.”
Fran notes, the Cabe Foundation invests with traditional nonprofit organizations as well as a variety of civic clubs, churches, sports organizations and educational institutions including Anthony Timberlands Center for Design & Materials Innovation at the University of Arkansas, the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation, the Muses Project, Garvan Woodland Gardens, the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch. Anita Cabe and her late husband Charles attended Henderson State University, where they met and got engaged. The Charles & Anita Cabe Student-Athlete Success Center is a beacon of the family’s legacy. Anita and her son Clay remain active with the foundation. Anita believes, “Philanthropy provides the opportunity to give back to my community and state. To see the effects in my community is rewarding.” Clay adds, “We enjoy knowing how much good we’re doing.”
The office in Gurdon offers inspiration and insight to the rich history of Cabe Foundation. Fran reflects, “The walls of her office are covered in photographs and tributes to the work she and her husband did for many years. For generations, the Cabe family has chosen to make their philanthropic impact in their home state.” Fran recognizes the foundation provides momentum for positive change in communities. There is accountable, but also a lot of love for the Natural State. “We could all learn about practicing philanthropy and helping our neighbors from Anita and her family.”
