Dr. Shelia Brooks, DPN, MSN-Ed., RN
Associate & Bachelor of Nursing
Clinical Assistant Professor, School of Nursing
I am from North Little Rock. I didn’t have a desire to venture too far away from home, so I decided to attend UA Little Rock because it was local, affordable and allowed me to remain close to my family and to my then boyfriend and now husband while pursuing my educational goals.
UA Little Rock School of Nursing has assisted in shaping me into a strong, confident and professional nurse. I am a nurse with decades of experience. As a nurse educator, I am knowledgeable, compassionate, dedicated and committed to assisting my students in continuous learning and providing safe and high-quality patient care. I was once exactly where my students are and I am very grateful for my nursing professor’s very stern yet encouraging support, which challenged me to grow personally and professionally.
This year, I am serving as the UA Little Rock Campus Campaign Chair; it is both an honor and a responsibility that I cherish. The campus community is a reflection of what makes UA Little Rock so special: our shared commitment to lifting up our students. When we support this campaign, we are investing in opportunity, access, and the transformative power of education.
My experience as a nursing professor has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. Navigating the balance between students’ new-school learning styles and traditional approaches requires adaptability and creativity.
