Celebrating tradition and hospitality, Southern Silks brings the authentic charm of the Kentucky Derby to the Capital City. Guests sip mint juleps and enjoy festive fare while watching fabulous faux horse races. This year, Casey and Corey Kines will welcome friends and patrons to an evening of Derby Day fun that supports Methodist Family Health and its commitment to the welfare of all Arkansans.

Casey works with One Digital Health & Benefits and was initially introduced to Methodist Family Health through her business relationship with the organization. “It quickly became personal for me, after seeing the good work they do for children and families.” Methodist Family Health Executive Director Carolyn McCone notes, “Casey has worked diligently with our employees to decipher insurance benefits for many years. She brings that same care and attention to detail as the event chairman and we could not be more grateful.”

For more than a century, Methodist Family Health has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children in Arkansas. Established as an orphanage in 1899 by the state’s Methodist community, Methodist Family Health continues to evolve to meet the needs of families. The organization offers programs and services for families and children struggling with behavioral, emotional and psychiatric health issues. These resources are provided at residential treatment centers and counseling clinics throughout the state as well as the Kaleidoscope Grief Center – the only grief center for children and families in Arkansas.

Proceeds from Southern Silks support the organization’s continuum of care. Casey emphasizes the broad spectrum of specialized initiatives available to Arkansas families. “I have many friends who have used services and the board-certified psychologists at Methodist Family Health for testing their children for learning disorders like dyslexia, attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The early intervention made such a positive impact on their children’s education.”

From the fashionistas to the sports enthusiasts, Casey boasts there’s something for everyone at Southern Silks. “It’s our absolute favorite event of the year. With the Derby-chic attire and fun faux horse betting, we always reserve the first Saturday in May for Southern Silks.” Each year, event colors are inspired by the silks of the previous year’s Kentucky Derby winner. Prizes are awarded for each horse race and there’s a competition for the most extravagant hat as well as a lively auction. Casey adds, “My brother, Matt Godbehere, is the auctioneer. Our grandfather started the Godbehere Auction Company in Hot Springs in 1965 and I think he would be so proud to see Matt in action helping local charities. It really is a family affair for us!”
