Later this month, Museum of Discovery will light up downtown Little Rock with SPARK! Igniting a Passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math with a signature event that combines celebration, community and a vision for the future. Offering two opportunities for constituents to gather – the SPARK! Luncheon and the SPARK! Gala – each one honors outstanding Arkansans and promises to inspire a new generation of innovators.

Charley and Jeff Swann encourage friends with families to engage with the Museum of Discovery; there are a variety of activities that cultivate curiosity for children at every level. Charley elaborates, “At different ages, our boys each have favorites spots and things to do.” There’s the Gravity Pull, the Climber and Tornado Simulator. “Our youngest loves Whoosh! with scarves. It seems like there’s always something new that catches their attention.” As SPARK! Chairmen, this duo brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to these beloved events. “Our focus extends beyond the immediate celebration as we see the event can build generations of donors, inspire young families and highlight the importance of STEAM in creating a vibrant, inclusive Arkansas,” explains Jeff. The SPARK! Luncheon shines a spotlight on the 2025 SPARK! Stars. These Arkansans are recognized for exceptional contributions in various STEAM industries. This year’s honorees represent a wide range of expertise and leadership.

The SPARK! Gala transforms the museum into a lively after-hours playground for young professionals. Renowned for its casual, interactive atmosphere – guests can explore the exhibits, participate in demonstrations with docents and enjoy cocktails with great food.No tuxedos are required for this event – curiosity, playfulness and a spirit of generosity are suggested.

The Swann’s believe SPARK! is more than a fundraiser: it is a catalyst for opportunity. Proceeds support the Museum of Discovery efforts to promote STEAM education among youth across the state. Accessibility is key for all students to have the chance to learn more about science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Founded in 1927, the Museum of Discovery continues to impact the future of Arkansas. Through interactive exhibits and innovative programs, the museum continues to prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, artists and innovators. The couple emphasizes it is not only about raising money, but also about celebrating community leaders, fostering hands-on learning and securing a bright future through STEAM. Charley adds, “Institutions like this exist because of energy. And that’s what we’re asking for.”
