When Cassie Jo Gehring saw that students, like herself, at UA Little Rock lacked access to affordable childcare services, she went to work. She led a group of students to submit a federal grant worth more than $580,000 from the U.S. Department of Education—a grant that will support the Child Care Access Means Parents in School program at UA Little Rock for years to come.

“I love connecting people to the mission of Ronald McDonald House. I cannot fathom having a critically ill child, especially not when my child is hospitalized far from home. Serving these families helps me keep perspective on what is truly important and inspires me to work hard to make sure that they have what they need to stay together while their child receives life-saving treatment at a local hospital.”

“In my short time fundraising, I have met so many people who are connected to the many organizations this state has to offer either as a supporter or recipient of their services. My own family has been a recipient of CareLink and CARTI services, as well as served other organizations in the community.

As a young professional and millennial, I let my peers know that philanthropy is not only for people who can make major donations, but for those who give what is meaningful to them.”
