When Cassie Jo Gehring saw that students, like herself, at UA Little Rock lacked access to affordable childcare services, she went to work. She led a group of students to submit a federal grant worth more than $580,000 from the U.S. Department of Education—a grant that will support the Child Care Access Means Parents in School program at UA Little Rock for years to come.

Serving these families helps me keep perspective on what is truly important and inspires me to work hard to make sure that they have what they need to stay together while their child receives life-saving treatment at a local hospital.”
